Bole airport sits in the Bole sub-city, south-east of central Addis Ababa, connected to the city by Bole Road and the ring road. There is no metro or rail link between the airport and city centre as of 2025 — road is the only transfer option.

One of Addis Ababa's most prominent luxury hotels, set in its own compound in Taitu district. ~6 km via Bole Road. 15–20 mins off-peak, 40–65 mins peak. Bole Road is a major arterial with significant peak congestion.

Hilton Addis Ababa

Centrally located near the Addis Ababa Convention Centre. ~7 km via Bole Road and Menelik II Avenue. 15–20 mins off-peak, 45–70 mins peak. The approach via Meskel Square is one of the most congested routes during peak hours.

Marriott Executive Apartments

Located in the upmarket Bole area, closer to the airport zone than the old city centre. ~8 km. 20–25 mins off-peak, 50–75 mins peak. Good ring-road access avoids the worst congestion.

Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa

~9 km. 20–30 mins off-peak, 55–80 mins peak. A central premium hotel with reliable transfer times outside peak.

Radisson Blu Addis Ababa

Located in the Kazanchis area near the AU headquarters. ~10 km. 25–35 mins off-peak, 60–90 mins peak. One of the longer transfers from Bole through central traffic.

Planning Your Arrival

Night arrivals (00:00–06:00): ideal from a traffic perspective — empty roads make transfer times the shortest of the day.

Morning arrivals (06:00–10:00): add significant time. A driver leaving the airport at 8am for a central hotel should expect at least 60 minutes.
