Platinum Car Rental PLC (“Platinum”, “we”, “us”) is a chauffeur-driven vehicle hire company registered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This policy explains how we handle personal data collected through our website, enquiry forms, WhatsApp, email and phone bookings.

2. Data we collect
- Booking data — name, email, phone, company, pickup & drop-off, date, passenger count, vehicle preference and notes you provide.
- Communications — messages sent via WhatsApp, email or phone in connection with a booking.
- Technical data — IP address (hashed), browser type, referring URL and basic analytics events. We do not use advertising trackers.

3. Why we use your data
- To respond to enquiries and deliver the chauffeur service you have booked.
- To issue quotes, invoices and receipts to corporate accounts.
- To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations under Ethiopian law.
- To prevent fraud and abuse of our enquiry forms (honeypot & rate limiting).
- To improve our website and services through aggregated analytics.
Lawful bases (where GDPR / UK GDPR applies to international clients): performance of a contract, legitimate interests, and consent for non-essential cookies.
4. Sharing your data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with:
- The assigned chauffeur, strictly to perform your booking.
- Service providers that host our website, database and email (acting as processors under contract).
- Authorities, where required by Ethiopian law or a valid legal request.
5. International transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process data outside Ethiopia (including the EU and US). Where applicable, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
6. Retention
Enquiry records are retained for up to 24 months. Invoiced bookings are retained for the period required by Ethiopian tax law (currently 10 years). Cookie consent is stored for 12 months.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time. Contact bookings@ethiopia-car-rental.com. EU/UK clients may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
8. Security
Data is stored on access-controlled, encrypted infrastructure with row-level security policies. Access is limited to staff who need it to deliver bookings.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new “last updated” date above.
